Whether it be helping lead a child in need to retrieve clothes at Kohl’s Back to School Shopping event or helping to paint a library mural for Access Books…

…here are just a few examples of how Sandpiper Juniors help make a difference for local children in need.

Access Books

Sandpiper Juniors help out with the nonprofit organization, Access Books. Working together, we paint the walls of elementary school libraries and transform them into welcoming spaces.

Additionally, Sandpiper Juniors donate old books in good-condition that they don't find themselves reaching for anymore. Through our hard work and with the help of Access Books, libraries filled with wide varieties of books are transformed.

“Sandpipers gave me an opportunity to get hands-on experience helping the RichStone Center. One day a little girl asked me to read a short picture book with her. This special moment warmed my heart. Being able to help her, along with others, understand what they were reading was something I will forever cherish.”

- Sloane (Sophomore)

Richstone Tutoring

Sandpiper Juniors help out at the Richstone Family Center and assist kids with their homework. They work one on one with kids from various age groups to help them study for tests, work on math problems, practice vocabulary, and much more!

Both the Sandpiper Juniors and the kids have a great time working together.

Love Joy

Lovejoy is a dog and puppy home that focuses on finding new families for the animals by holding weekly adoption events. Volunteers will help with getting the dogs ready for adoption, tending to their needs, and assisting in the adoption process on weekends. It is such a rewarding program and is a fantastic way to help out in the community and take care of some really cute dogs!

Sandpipers

Our members also contribute to events run by the larger Sandpipers non-profit, including:

  • Summer Arts Program

  • Holiday Home Tours

  • Sugar Plum gift drive

  • Holiday Baskets

We had one social where we told funny embarrassing stories and I don’t think I’ve laughed as hard as I did then with people I had just met. We had pizza and cupcakes and I got to meet some pretty cool people from different grades and schools..

Socials

The socials each month are a time where sandpiper juniors can connect with each other outside of community service. We do a lot of holiday themed cookie decorating as well as game nights and trivia! We also had a freshman vision board social, ice skating, and a hilarious embarrassing stories social complete with snacks . We end each year with the Starfish Banquet celebration.
